This compilation was produced for Connoisseur Records, a label run by one of Deep Purple's former managers. Connoisseur issued a number of strong selling double vinyl albums of older material and felt this would be a good addition to the series. It was co-ordinated by Simon Robinson, who also designed the gatefold sleeve and penned the notes. It contains two original albums from projects of Deep Purple members and friends. The CD version was an afterthought and the label would not run to a 2CD set so some tracks had to be left off.

Butterfly Ball:
Adapted by Roger Glover for a full colour animated television series produced by British Lion Films Limited in association with Aurelia Enterprises Limited from the design and illustrations of the book “The Butterfly Ball” by Alan Aldridge first published 1973 by Jonathan Cape Limited and Times Newspapers Limited in association with Aurelia Enterprises Limited.
Recorded at Kingsway Recorders, London, during the summer of 1974.
