Album Info

Release Date: 1983

Label: Black Straight Music

This version of the original LP does not come with an insert sheet with information about the LP or the music and the tracks.

In a one on one interview by phone, Mr Snijders explained that, although the actual vinyl record was made in Holland and is identical to that same Dutch release, this most certainly is the Surinam version. In the interview he explained, quote: "We were on the verge of doing a small tour in Surinam in those days to promote the album. Since this was a private release, I faced one problem for that tour: I had plenty of records left in plain white inner sleeves, but I had run out of covers. So what I did was the following: I contacted a printer in Surinam, made sure he got the material to manufacture the covers there, locally, and I would bring a few hundred records from Holland in those same white paper sleeves to Surinam, in order to have those Dutch vinyl pressings be put in those Surinam covers. That way, we were able to sell our records after our shows in Surinam, with an actual cover. The differences between the actual Dutch cover and the one made in Surinam are obvious: the Dutch cover uses the colours red, blue, yellow and white, a given that people can see in the flute and microphone of that cover. The Surinam cover, however, simply uses a red ink on black and, in fact, has a separate remark at the bottom of the back cover, stating 'This alternate cover was made by permission of Ronald Snijders'. To me, it is most definitely a different version, because it is the album as sold in Surinam, with a genuine, Surinam made cover."
