Album Info

Release Date: 1997-09-23

Label: Palmetto Records

This is the best way to learn the differences between a cha-cha (the extra cha was an invention for Americans), rumba, 6/8 time, boogaloo, bolero, merengue, yambu, cumbia y salsa, bomba and songo. Originals, Latin and jazz standards are clearly identified on the CD as to what class of Latin jazz they belong to. The arrangements of each track are energized, lively and bright. The formula of the Club is to fuse jazz performers with a battery of Caribbean percussionists, very effective. Mamacita merits eight out of ten shakes of the maraca. ~ Tom Schulte
