Taken from a continuous piece made for the exhibition 'Het Gebouw' (The Building) at Museum Oud-Amelisweerd (September/October 2012).

Verstilde Tijd literally means 'muted time', but it can also be translated as 'time standing still'. The impression is given that years and years back, the old bell on the roof of the museum's residence was struck, and at that very moment, time froze. The distant resonance of the bell is still audible in the room, filling it with a ghostly presence.

A recording of the original bell was made when it was taken down for
restoration. The recorded sound was transformed to a never-ending drone, playing at a low volume from a small speaker hidden in the fireplace.
