Especially recorded for the Cologne exhibition “Dream Baby Dream (Long Version)“ L.A. based artist and saxophone player Sam Gendel took the challenge to come up with a weird and slick version of the 1979 Suicide classic. While Gendel‘s voice reminds of Alan Vega at times, the music’s language is all but different. His interpretation is way more free and the vibe has a slight tone of early Hip Hop rather than no wave. When played for Suicide founding member Martin Rev recently he surprisingly replied "This version is actually more original than most covers I've heard. And better as well.“ And we surely agree with him.
