Mike Of The Monkees by Show Biz Babies, Michael Nesmith

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1967

Label: Hasbro

This novelty flexi-disc was an integral part of a toy-set that also included an autographed photograph and toy doll of the artist Michael Nesmith as a member of the American pop group The Monkees.

Although the toy's strap line or title sub-heading is "Groovy 33⅓ Record Tells All About Mike", Mike Nesmith's voice does not appear on the disc - instead, the voice is that of American disc jockey Gary Stevens, who reads a letter from the artist.

The toymaker Hasbro issued a wide range of these toys profiling 'pop-stars' of the period, typically 1967-1969. A good (and complete) example of the type of novelty toy this was can be seen on Discogs on this link here Show Biz Babies, Micky Dolenz, The Monkees - Groovy 33⅓ Record Tells All About Micky, another member of The Monkees.
