Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1957

Label: Excello

Bob Eagle explains on The Real Blues Forum the confusion on the artists who use the name Slim Sanders/ Skinny Dynamo.
Some of my information comes from Soko Richardson. Here are my notes on Skinny Dynamo:
SKINNY DYNAMO (blues vocal) is a recording pseudonym covering more than one performer. It is the credit for an artist who recorded BABY BABY MINE in about August 1955 for Marlin #801, affiliated with Chart label, said by Henry Stone to have been recorded with Fats Domino's band in support. The Marlin disk is reportedly by Johnny “Little Sonny” Jones, who recorded Chart #601, released as by SONNY JONES, at the same session. According to Soko Richardson, this could not be his brother, who made only the one disc under that pseudonym. Johnny “Sonny” Jones also recorded for Specialty (1952), Imperial (1954) and Tune – Kel (1967), but not as SKINNY DYNAMO.
SKINNY DYNAMO (blues vocal) is a recording pseudonym covering more than one performer. Soko Richardson states that his brother Theodore Richardson, junior, recorded SO LONG, SO LONG as SKINNY DYNAMO for Jay Miller for release by Excello #2097, released by December 1956. Theodore had been born in 1933, presumably at New Iberia, Louisiana, and in 1974 was still living at New Iberia. Composer credit for SO LONG, SO LONG was to: (Richardson – Miller), listed by BMI as J. P. Richardson and J. Miller. Theodore was a singer and guitarist and was also known as T. J. Richardson. Theodore was the singer for RICHARD AND THE BAD MEN (Feature RECORDS #45-3011, recorded in 1954), featuring WHERE YOU GO JOE? And ANTONIA. As at 2007, ANTONIA and WHERE YOU GO JOE were listed by BMI as co-compositions by J. D. Miller and Theodore Richardson, published by Sony/ ATV Acuff Rose Music, BMI. He apparently recorded unreleased titles for Zynn and drew – Blan (the latter session eventually issued by Night Train International CD #2007).
