Five CDs in individual, standard black tray jewel boxes, contained together in a cardboard sleeve.Disc 4 & 5 credit Wilbur Ware (bass) and Alvin Jones (drums) for performing on tracks 4-1 through 5-9. However, according to Michael Cuscuna's liner notes they only performed on tracks 5-1 through 5-9.

In 1976, more material was discovered from this historic session and issued in a double Blue Note album titled MORE FROM THE VILLAGE VANGUARD. With the CD format, we have taken that double and the original album and constructed two CDs that include all of the same music, but now in chronological order as it happened on that day.
