Album Info

Release Date: 1995

Label: Rastascan Records

J.A. Deane (real-time sampling/processing) on track 6, hence the title "Dino Narrative."

Unlike previous Splatter Trio releases, this one was assembled by Myles Boisen à la musique concrète with Frank Zappa's concept of xenochrony in mind. Live recordings from a recent US tour and recent studio tracks were deconstructed down to their component parts (solos, duos, themes, etc.) reassembled, overdubbed and layered upon, and eventually sliced and diced in a digital workstation.

For example, track 6 "Dino Narrative, Shit Hits Houston All Aboard" layers live recordings from Houston, TX of two pieces ("Shit Hits the Fan" & "All Aboard") with a live studio manipulation of an improvisation by J.A. Deane, all of which is further processed. Tracks 1 and 2 ("Party Horn Rumbles" & "Bead the Feast...") combine slowed-down and reversed Splatter tracks with accelerated and processed improvised sections.

Hi-Fi Junk Note has no breaks between tracks and was designed to be played in "shuffle" mode.
