Frenzy was supposed to kick start a five album Split Enz CD reissue series on the Rubellan Remasters label. Soon after the announcement of the reissue, Eddie Rayner from the band posted a disapproving comment on Facebook, which was soon removed. The day after the announcement, Rubellan Remasters posted on social media that Frenzy was pulled by Universal Music licensing after someone associated with the band contacted them to complain, which also meant that the other planned reissues were stopped. The fee for the license had already been paid to UMG and to the manufacturer for the completed reissue. The following week, Rubellan Remasters announced on social media, their website, and a more detailed newsletter to the label's mailing list that it was closing down as a reissue label after many years of difficulties with UMG licensing, specifically pointing out the loss of time and money on the Frenzy reissue being the final insult. This was the second time in two years that UMG pulled licenses from Rubellan after fees were paid. It was also explained that the band's approval of the reissue was not contractually required but that UMG chose to throw Rubellan under the bus in favor of the band. The CD was mastered from original tapes and is packaged in a gatefold wallet with an 8-page booklet of lyrics. This would have been the first time the 1981 remix of Frenzy would have been commercially available on CD.
