Limited tag is based on the fact that despite the fact that files can be copied easily on-for-one, legitimate copies of the digital album are only available upon (pre)ordering from a limited batch of 40.
On-site Bandcamp description:
6 tracks including 5 brand new Stephen EvEns songs recorded by Steve Albini over a long
weekend in France with Jen Macro (Guitar) & Jimi Scandal (Bass Guitar) in March 2020.
Recorded in the south of France just before lockdown we are releasing a limited run of just 40 copies.
Individually numbered one sided clear l12” records. Each record comes in a different coloured sleeve/artwork combination and is lathe cut making each piece unique. It is only available physically via Bandcamp but comes with a download of the files on request with your purchase.
The 5 new songs were written specifically for this recording session. It was asked that the band perform at least 3 songs and that should include at some point an acoustic guitar and piano recording. Stephen used this opportunity to squeeze 5 songs into the short amount of times they had with Steve’s considerable engineering skills which resulted in this mini-album. The 6th song is a homage to the band Shellac, a cover of their instrumental “Kittypants” from the album “Excellent Italian Greyhound” which was played entirely on Casio keyboards including use of the legendary VL-Tone. This was recorded separately at home and sent to Shellac for approval. Approval was granted.
This will not be made available on any streaming platform.
