"All 3 works were inspired by Arnold Schönberg's 'The Book of the Hanging Gardens' - and in particular the poems by Stefan George that Schönberg used as lyrics. Track one uses my voice reading/singing part of the text as the only sound material. The text has been broken up by syllable and the syllables placed in alphabetical order forwards and backwards. Track two uses the vowel structure from the text as a score for striking five tones on a small chime - this work was recently presented as a sound installation at the Pomona College Museum of Art. Track three uses samples from the Schönberg work as well as my voice reading/singing the same text as track one." - back cover booklet.
