Self-released cassette. Supposedly, 30 copies were given to press and radio, and 50 copies were sold at early live performances and through stores including Gaslight Music, Monash University Records, Greville Records in Prahan and Leedin Records in Footscray.A2 and A5 were released in 1995 on the box set 'Collected Recordings 1986 - 1993'. A low-quality transfer of A3 was released in 2009 on the digital iTunes release of 'Great Truckin' Songs Of The Renaissance (It's Raining Mendacity) [Bonus Track Version]'. All other tracks remain exclusive to this release.
Several features readily distinguish a genuine original copy - they have paper j-cards, hand-cut rectangular labels, and manufacturer's stamps on the cassette's top edge.
The short stories on the cassette shell are all to do with underpants. The first three are the lyrics to 'Unknown, Unacknowledged, Unforgettable, Underpants', which was recorded during February 1984 and issued (in a shortened version) in 2002 on the 2CD compilation 'Best Off'. The full six-minute version of the track wouldn't see the light of day for another 19 years, until it was included as one of four hidden tracks on the 2021 CD remaster.
Note that a "message from TISM to PBS listeners" found it's way onto some dubs of the self-titled cassette, however that message wasn't on the original cassettes.
