Despite being called "BOOTLEG", this is the official release for the score of the anime Serial Experiments Lain.

Disc 1 contains the score's audio in standard CD quality, with a CD-ROM of extras on Disc 2 including a dramatically expanded version of the score in MP3 format, sound effects, and dialogue clips from the series in AIFF format. In addition, Disc 2 features a clock, calendar, wallpapers, screensavers, animations from the series and a few mini-games.

A colored poster with the art of the character Lain, a set of stickers, and a booklet containing an episode by episode discussion of the anime between producer/concept creator Yasuyuki Ueda and musician Akira Takemoto is also included in the boxset.

2-04, 2-06, 2-07, 2-08, 2-10, 2-11, 2-15, 2-21, 2-22, 2-32, 2-35 and 2-54 are all compositions not found on Disc 1.
2-05, 2-09, 2-12, 2-23, 2-25, 2-28, 2-31, 2-33, 2-34, 2-37, 2-38, 2-40 through 2-44, 2-47 through 2-53, 2-55 and 2-57 are all extended versions of compositions found on Disc 1.
