Tangerine Dream stands for one of the most fascinating musical eras in the field of European instrumental music. The band come together in Germany in 1967 and after an uncertain rock debut their passion for synthesizers, which at the time were still rather primitive - drove them to research electronic music.
The albums they recorded in the first half of the Seventies (Alpha Centauri, Zeit, Phaedra, etc.) are the first examples of a genre which was to make of this band the forefathers of a peculiar sound, the so called "cosmic” music, which in turn was to affect a whole generation of musicians, laying the foundations for new musical trends like new age”, ”ambient”, ”techno”, etc.
Tangerine Dream, after 35 albums and innumerable sound tracks, cinema and television music themes, etc., are still working full blast and their music still includes the essential elements that mode it successful right from the start: the courage to experiment, the sophisticated atmospheres, the great emotions.
With this operation, New Age Music And New Sounds wishes to provide its readers and the many fans of this German band with an artistic retrospective of their whole career, on overview of their past production and a sample of their most recent music, the much acclaimed
”Tyranny of Beauty".
This CD Rom CD-I contains a veritable store room of audio and video data: a collection of photographic and video material, an Interactive interview with the musicians of the band and the complete list of their recordings. And all this is further enriched by two pieces, "Catwalk” and "Quasar", especially written and performed by Tangerine Dream for the traditional sound part of this CD: a world exclusive.
A fascinating world, an adventure in musical research and emotions, that we offer you by means of the most advanced multimedia technology.
