The liners incorrectly list the recording date as November 15-17, 1970. All tracks are in fact selections from the April 1967 concert, of which titles 1, 2, 4, 5 & 7 had already been released in 1967 on Solid State LP SS 18016 Thad Jones & Mel Lewis - Live At The Village Vanguard. Yet the reissued tracks have longer durations compared with those on the original album, due to the fact that (more) spoken intros are included and longer applause appended. In addition, tracks 5 and 7 contain the restored material edited out in 1967 for LP release.
Tracks 3 and 6 are previously unissued.
Track sequence on this CD neither represents order of performance, nor does it correspond with the orginal LP release.
Total time and track durations as listed on the tray card of this release are more or less incorrect,
mostly longer than the value displayed by a CD-player:
Total Time is 58, not: "approximately 63 Min."
Track 1 is 8:21 (not 8:40)
Track 2 is 10:50 (not 10:35)
Track 3 is 10:32 (not 14:45)
Track 4 is 5:36 (not 5:00)
Track 5 is 8:56 (not 9:23)
Track 6 is 5:05 (not 5:00)
Track 7 is 8:26 (not 8:50)
For the tracklist above durations from tray card have been replaced by the physical values.
The titles of track 1 and 7 are mis-spelled on this CD, compared with the orginal version(s) on United Artists' LP released in 1967:
Track 1 (Gettin' Sassy): this Thad Jones composition was originally titled "Don't Git Sassy".
Track 7 (Baca Feelin'): this Hank Jones composition - nowadays commonly known as "Bachafillen" - had its triple start as: Bachafeelen (on LP label) / Bacha Feelin' (on LP cover) / or Bacha Feeling (in LP liners) - but there was no: Baca Feelin'.
The uncredited instrumental roles and track composers are added from above mentioned LP Solid State SS 18016 Live At The Village Vanguard.
