Soul Explosion by The Daktaris

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1998

Label: Desco Records

Orange/Black label.

"This album is respectfully dedicated to the memory of Fela Ransome Kuti, the Godfather of Afro-Beat."
"Recorded at Krafte Sound, Lagos, Nigeria. Mixed at Desco Studios NYC. Son Afro Beat Volume 1"

The track "Eltsuhg Ibal Lasiti" spells "It Is All A Big Hustle" backwards. This is a reference to the fact that the album is not "Produced in Nigeria" as the cover states, but produced in New York by New York based musicians. Musicians' credits on the cover are all fake names for members of Antibalas, as well as The Soul Providers and The Mighty Imperials, members of which later formed The Dap-Kings.

"Musicawa Silt" is a cover of "Muziqawi Silt" by the Wallias Band which is incorrectly referred to as "Wallais band" on the cover.
