The Little Drummer Boy by The Harry Simeone Chorale

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1963

Label: Diplomat Records

The inclusion of tracks A2 - A6, B1 - B3 and B6 - B8 make this a somewhat abridged re-issue of Twentieth-Century Fox Material Catalog #3100 (mono) and S-3100 (stereo).

Christmas album, labeled "Diplomat Records Presents The Little Drummer Boy." Diplomat was a budget record label, also associated with Ambassador Records and Peter Pan Records, 461 8th Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10001.

Those selections credited to The Diplomat Orchestra and Chorus are the same as those issued on Diplomat (XS-1015 and XS-1709), Spin-O-Rama (XMK-4002), and Promenade (2071) as being by The Abbey Choir. Stereo pressings (Diplomat XS-1018) containing any of these recordings are rechanneled for stereo from original mono recordings, but the few tracks by The Harry Simeone Chorale are in true stereo on stereo pressings. Synthetic Plastics of Newark, NJ had a habit of repackaging recordings they owned in deceptive packaging to increase sales. Looking at the jacket for this LP without reading the fine print leads the buyer to believe the LP contains the hit single version of the title song, which it does not.
