Fire! As a gun shot in the dark, ‘Selection 1’ bangs hot and noisy into ears and hits us as a bullet right through the head! This is The Honor first debut album and it comes to us with a loud electro-pop sound, like a violent kick up to the free urban arty boys’ creativity. Since from the early tracks we get feeling with a sort of return to a such old-school stream of consciousness, a lost trend aimed exclusively to achieve the gentle art of expressing ourselves. Inside this context, The Honor are impulsive living protagonists of a dark and unknown world, which is not well accepted and so then totally idealized. They smells like young rock stars searching for an ideal life, a life at the edge of the most naïve and obstinate fancies. Though appearing with a pure rakish style, these guys are skilled player of a real dance revolution, approaching to the world by the rawest emotions, which are genuine, natural, true and with no filters. We are awfully swept away by rebel melodies, which are sort of ballads, defined by a flaunted vocal euro-dance section and tainted by stereotyped drum grooves. It happens with songs such as 'Hot On Fire' and ‘Kick It Up’, where we can find typical 90s' drum jungle rhythm. Probably by pseudo punk concept, guitar riffs are usually broken and in a paradoxical way, they are on the cutting edge for the sound, which is pop, where every wildest note is wet, dunked and even drowned into clever synth arrangements. Those aren’t the reasons why The Honor need to hide a sweet romantic and passionate soul as well. Songs like ‘Faith’ and ‘Shi Mian’ are good examples which identify them in a larger musical context and on this way, we are able to recognize them as pure and without any damned specific tags. All those qualities put The Honor project as an interesting fusion element between the two used languages and the opposite flags, winning over the more exigent listeners and on the same line, taking them ambitious to the newest great electronic wave, which is actually gaining more support than during passed times. That's not all folks: we can also highlight another strong contrast where songs like ‘What's Your Feeling’ and ‘Single Party’ shows exemplar evidence. The first song offers originally a 70s' vintage bass and guitar funky-blues rhythm eaten alive in a cruel manner by synth arrangements which seem obtained by...the motherboard of a nerdy game-boy wave table! The second one dares a lot and make use of heavy dance effects that completely burn the black sound that we listen at the beginning. So, ‘Selection 1’ is the first shot of this promising band who got no fear to exhibit and tell exactly what it thinks. Any disappointment? Well, listen to it and just tell me: 'What's Your Feeling'?
