A "best of" compilation of The Infant Cycle as curated by Jim DeJong, the driving force behind The Infant Cycle. Released digitally to celebrate the end of The Infant Cycle.Comes with 10 paged PDF booklet discussing the various tracks in the release, as well as a 1 paged PDF press release from Silber Records.
The Infant Cycle existed for over twenty years, always floating in some obscure corner of cultdom, and projecting an influence on the Canadian indie drone and experimental scene, before being dissolved. Guided by Jim DeJong, an often-starving artist from Canada, The Infant Cycle produced approximately 50 albums and EPs during its lifespan, at times collaborating with a diverse group of people, including Orphx, Aidan Baker, Delphium, and Dronaement. A common sound exists in much of The Infant Cycle's recordings, multi-timbral drones and washes, meditative states, that co-exist with jagged and harsh sonics, with interjections of sounds maddeningly almost recognizable. The best Infant Cycle tracks teeter totter between the harmonious and the unpleasant, not letting the listener off the hook. This compilation released by Silber Records collects 36 tracks, a great deal of them rare and unreleased, and most of the tracks previously not available for download.
