Maggie May was a musical by Lionel Bart & Alun Owen (who also wrote the screenplay to A Hard Day's Night) "It’s a completely fictitious story all about contemporary Liverpool and a lot of the music has been based on old Liverpool and Irish folk songs. There is a beat club scene in the show, with a group who perform two beat numbers – they are going to augment the orchestra" - Alun Owen*. The Nocturns were the resident group at The Blue Angel in Liverpool and were hired to appear in the show. This is their only release and the tracks do not feature on the cast album of the show which previewed at the Palace Theatre, Manchester and opened in the West End at the Adelphi Theatre on 22nd September 1964. *http://www.sixtiescity.com/Mbeat/mbfilms75.htm
