This is a deluxe European version, 7224 copies were pressed. The « Hadean / Archaean » Minimax-CD has a transparent frame through which you can see the underlying « Proterozoic » CD. The « Proterozoic » CD is black on both sides.

The album concept follows the classification of geologic ages during the "Precambrian" period. Every song that is not an instrumental has two titles: a primary one that refers to a geologic age and a secondary one that is derived from the lyrics.

Disc 2 contains a data track with band pictures and biographical information.

Drums and guitars recorded at Studio 57 in Alateveli, Finland in March 2007.
Caleb Scofield's vocals were recorded at Dios Mio Studios in Los Angeles, CA.
Tomas Hallbom's vocals were recorded at Studio Kronan in Luleå, Sweden.
Jason Emry's vocals were recorded at Sasquatch Studios in Seattle, WA.
Erik Kalsbeek's vocals were recorded at Bart's House, somewhere in the Netherlands.
Saxophone and additional samples for 'Siderian' were recorded at Audio Zoo Berlin.
Everything else was recorded at Oceanland, Berlin, between April and July 2007.

'Hadean/Archaean' was mixed at Victory Audio in Kokkola, Finland, August 2007.
