Album Info

Release Date: 1963-08-28

Label: Decca

On both labels: "Production: Michael Barclay for Impact Sound"

The Rolling Stones recorded two versions of "Poison Ivy" on 16 July 1963. This is the first version, with percussion during the chorus, and the second version (without percussion) is the one which appeared on the The Rolling Stones EP (Decca DFE.8560) in 1964.

This record had been scheduled in 1963 as The Rolling Stones' second single. However it was withdrawn before release. Some copies had been made, though. Instead, I Wanna Be Your Man (Decca F.11764) became the second Rolling Stones UK single.

The two tracks from the withdrawn single were eventually released on the 1964 Decca Saturday Club compilation (LK 4583).
