Comes in a Jewel Case with a two-page booklet. Castle Pulse is a label of Sanctuary Records Group Limited and only mentioned on the back of the booklet. Made in the EU."Formed in the early 1960s to back singer Johnny Sandon, Liverpool's Searchers - named after a John Wayne movie - enjoyed considerably more success than their one-time frontman. They led the Merseybeat assault on the UK charts, registering 10 UK Top 20 hits in two years from 1963, and not one but two versions of the band play on today.
The folksy harmonies of Mike Pender and John McNally (guitars), Tony Jackson (bass, later replaced by Frank Allen) and Chris Curtis (drums) were highly appealing, though unlike the Beatles they relied on covers of US songs for their hits. Ironically their biggest American success was also with a cover, their version of the Clovers' 'Love Potion No. 9'. That is included here, along with UK chart-toppers 'Sweets For My Sweet' and 'Needles & Pins', a take on Merseybeat favourites 'Twist & Shout' and 'Money' and final Top 40 hit 'Take It Or Leave It', all great examples of their ear-catching style.
The Searchers proved influential on the likes of the Byrds with a sound that still appeals, four decades after their heyday."
