In the beginning they were called "The Roadrunner Sect" (1964) name derived from Bo Diddley's "Roadrunner" & the U.K. band The Downliners Sect .
In 1966 the name was shortened to "The Sect".
Juul Schell, Hoeney Chen (alias Jimi Mack) & Hennie de Wilde (alias Bobby Cash) † went on to form the soul/funk formation "The Free" in 1969.
drummer Cor v.d. Beek † joined the "Shocking Blue" and later "Livin' Blues".
