Tracks 1 & 5 are settings of texts by Chris Cutler.
Track 2 is one of four pieces for strings written in Grenoble in Spring 1993, the others of which are as yet unperformed.
Track 3 derives from a larger, abandoned, project "Three Dreams Of Descartes", an oratorio in which the philosopher pits his rational self against various personal demons that come wrapped in different kinds of Time.
Track 4 was written for Henry Cow (as "Erk Gah"), performed at concerts in 1976-77, but never recorded until now.
Track 6 was written for real orchestra and later tapped into a computer & revised for midi instrumentation.

Tracks 1, 3, 4 & 5 recorded and mixed Autumn 1993 at Wolf Studios, London. Piano on track 5 recorded at Premises Studio.
Track 2 recorded live at Bottolph Clayden.
Track 6 recorded direct to DAT from MIDI instruments.

This version appears to be a mix of the other two versions, 1302848 and 7665170. It has the booklet of 7665170, but is pressed by Cinram like 1302848 rather than WMG. The back cover differs slightly from 1302848 in that is has 'Printed in Canada' rather than Made in Canada. The CD differs from 1302848 in that the print is black instead of blue.
