These recordings were made in and around Tibetan refugee settlements in northern Himachel Pradesh during the autumn of 1973. All of the performers were born in Tibet, coming to India after the Chinese occupation.

Instruments:
The Damyin is a long necked fretless Flute, plucked with a small wooden plectrum.
The Yangchin is a many stringed zither, or dulcimer, played with two bamboo beaters.
The Peewan is a two stringed fiddle.
Lingbu is a general Tibetian name for flute.
