Album Info

Release Date: 2008-05-06

Label: Nulll

Writing finished September 2004. Recorded and mixed at Templa Libitina during 2004/2005.

The follow-up to 'Prelude To Monolith' sure took it's time to get finished, it took over 4 years for this album to complete, as writing already started during the period when i was recording 'Absence Of Life'.

'Thus...' is an orchestral/ambient intro, based on Strauss' 'Alzo Sprach Zarathustra', which is also known as the intro music to 'Space 2001'. Next track is also the oldest one on this release as i already started working on it while finishing up the tracks for 'Absence Of Life'. Since then, 'Funeral Dance' has seen a great number of different versions and arrangements, one of the most interesting being the full ambient extended version which appeared on 'Funeral Path'. The final version is probably the heaviest of them all and also the first UDOM track to feature the slightly different sound.
This new 'UDOM sound' which is heard throughout the entire album is a combination of the usual ambient/funeral doom from 'Prelude...' but with a clearer production and the addition of orchestral parts. The more clean orchestral approach is most prominent on the titel track, which also features a full-on ambient interlude.

The album closes with 'Soon...', probably one of the most epic UDOM tracks up to date and also my personal fave. With 32 minutes it's also the longest track on this album and features a long organic ambient outro.
