it's been 5 years since the last proper death grips album, assuming if you, like I do not count the 2019 release "gmail and the restraining orders". I tend to not count any DG releases without like decipherable vocals or idk ""real"" song writing as """real""" releases, whatever the fuck that means. Back in 2016 somebody posted this fake death grips tracklist on, assumably 4chan, which interestingly is a few months *after* bottomless pit released, making me think it was even more of a joke and not any sort of legitimate hoax attempt.I can't remember where I first saw this image or, first heard death grips for that matter, but after i made "Worm Highway" earlier this year I thought it would be cool to make another fake tracklist/album into a an actual album. Neither that work or this one attempt too hard, if at all, to actually sound like the artist they are purported to be made by. I have pulled some influences and some ideas and techniques from Death Grips, as I have for basically my entire musical career, but this is not supposed to be "a death grips album". It's a VoidDweller album that is sometimes about death grips. It's about a lot of stuff and sometimes nothing in particular but I am grateful to finally have a project to overtly discuss DG. I feel like they have almost become sort of a taboo name in the noise rap / digital hardcore scene where people don't want to discuss them, I imagine due to their rabid, terminally online, and sometimes insufferable fan base.
Or at least that's how they were in around 2013-2014. I remember the trend of people dm-ing everybody under the sun to ask them what their favorite death grips album was, and i specifically remember when somebody asked clipping. that question and they responded by linking, i believe, Wilderness of North America by B L A C K I E, those absolute fuckin chads. I like TRUE SPIRIT AND NOT GIVING A FUCK and GEN better than that record but they all do go hard as fuck. Past that digression, I think everybody who acted like that yk roughly a decade ago has obviously grown up and i doubt hat the internet will completely shit their ass again like that whenever, if ever, dg releases another album. death grips is dad rock now, and that's okay. Dad rock fucks sometimes.
oh also, it's NEW LEAKED DEATH GRIPS TRACKLIST 2014 instead of 2016 because i had already made the art for streaming before I realized the error. That's diy baby!!! woo!!!
