This record contains some of the poems commissioned and read on the Welsh Arts Council's Dial-a-poem service. This scheme was launched in February 1970 by the Literature Department in association with the G.P.O. Each week, on Cardiff 45144, a new poem in Welsh or English could be heard. A total of 40, 282 calls were received during the year and the service proved extremely popular.
