20 Giant Hits / The Do It Now Foundation by Various

Album Info

Label: Ronco Teleproducts, Inc.

"As Advertised On TV" printed on front cover, with also a sticker that reads "As Seen On TV". 20 GIANT HITS, and an interesting set of songs, most having to do with drug or alcohol abuse, just look at the titles. The studio version of "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix is especially amazing, I don't think this was available in any of his albums at the time of this release, which I figure to be around 1969 or 1970 from the song selection. The Steam version of their hit "Na Na Hey Hey" here is kinda "strange", as it kinda "slows down" in the last minute? (Maybe they were trying to "simulate" the downer side of drugs with the usually "upbeat" ending going out like a "low energy" / "out of focus" ending here.... , it sounds very strange...)

This from the back cover:
"This album is a celebration of life - a feeling of energy and love from the poets, artists and musicians who have joined together to speak for a purpose - to relay the message against drug abuse. The DO IT NOW FOUNDATION is dedicated to helping fight this problem. Never before in the history of the recording industry have so many artists of such stature donated their services for a collage album. We wish to thank all those caring people, the record companies and music publishers, whose contributions went into making this album a reality."
