A Musical Tribute To Britain's Top Radio Show Of the 40's and 50's.
Britain's top-rated radio show 'Workers Playtime' was first launched in 1941 with the intention to help increase production during the war years, and it was broadcast directly from factories. Like 'Music While You Work' it provided a bright and cheerful programme, but with a variety show format consisting of several acts and a resident band. Its huge success carried it through into the '50s, and a selection of its featured songs are here represented by The Billy Ternent Band the Michael John Singers, with guest appearances from The Dave Shepherd Quintet and The Big Banjo Band.
