Unlike Jazz ! Sampler Series, this edition removes mention of United Stereo Tapes from the front and spine of the box, as well as from the label. However, United Stereo Tapes is still mentioned in the text on the back of the box. Furthermore, the catalog number is AXQ 403 on this release, as opposed to RQ-403 on Jazz ! Sampler Series.

Other differences between this release and Jazz ! Sampler Series include:
- Title on the spine is "Jazz Music Sampler" (it is simply "Jazz" on the spine of Jazz ! Sampler Series)
- No "Suggested $3.95" text on the back of the box
- No George S. Whiteman design credit on the front of the box
- Mastering, quality auditing, and duplicating credits for Ampex appear on the back of the box (no such credits appear on Jazz ! Sampler Series)
- Ampex is credited as manufacturer on the label (the manufacturer credit appears on the back of the box, but not on the label, of Jazz ! Sampler Series)
- The back of the box mentions auto-reversal signals for compatible players (no mention of this made on Jazz ! Sampler Series)

The catalog number is shortened to AX 403 on the label.
