Four of these seven works (and the Boulez, "Livre pour Quatour"; MS/5009) were recorded at the 1961 Darmstadt Festival. I'm sure that all concerned with this record will join me in dedicating it to the memory of the gentle and brilliant director of that festival from 1946 until his unfortunate accidental death in 1961, Dr. Wolfgang Steinecke. His extraordinary vision and devotion to "new music" and composers and musicians that he believed in and supported continue to stimulate and transform musical life throughout the world.
