Upon release of The Genesis of Slade compilation CD by The Music Corporation (TMC) legal issues from Slade's management came into play. TMC had acquired the rights for all of the material but not for the use of the official Slade logo on the cover. As a result the logo was removed with only the first 1000 copies having the original design.Originally TMC made the album available to fans only, at a reduced price, before selling nationally.
TMC eventually sold the compilation rights to Cherry Red who re-released the album in 2000.
