"POKE" is a mixtape/compilation/thing, structured the same way as our 2017 "THAW" compilation. The first 6 songs are from completely new musicians, who have never been on DESKPOP before, while the rest of the tracks are remixes of existing DESKPOP songs (with some of the remixers making their own DESKPOP debuts as well).

The title was decided upon because of the word's versatility. As the first track by HiP CoLouR uses it, a poke can be to get someone's attention in a friendly but personal manner, as it implies physical contact. "Poke" can also be used to describe how seedlings start to pop up out of the ground, similar to how the new producers on this compilation are poking their heads into the music industry. And finally, a cactus will absolutely poke you if you mishandle it, so the word could have a more aggressive meaning attached to it, like how tracks from Cromulon Twins, pooldad & Low Poly have very in-your-face fun moments.
