Album Info

Release Date: 2001

Label: Sugo Music

Subtitled 'Bluegrass, Banjos and Smoky Mountain Tales,' "Appalachia" is another release from National Geographic's 'Destination' series and explores the music of a region which extends from Maine to Georgia. The artists chosen are all outstanding and the songs range from traditional to genre classics. The depth of talent is typified by the inclusion of legendary Piedmont Blues guitarist Etta Baker (d. 2006) who influenced the likes of Bob Dylan, Taj Mahal, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, among others.
Released in cardboard jacket with double-sided poster-style insert which includes artist bios, photos and (what else?) a map. Hey, it's N.G. and that's how they do.
