Starting around 1996, Time-Life repackaged many of the Rhythm & Blues series releases for the Solid Gold Soul series. The Solid Gold Soul releases included updated artwork and packaging, but the used same track listings, masterings, and (usually) the same matrix number on the disc.

Time-Life released this disc as Various - Rhythm & Blues • 1969 (RHD-13) in the Rhythm & Blues series and Various - Solid Gold Soul 1969 (R838-04) in the Solid Gold Soul series. The two CD releases are digitally identical.
