Release Date: 2020Labels: Marantz, Vinyl Me, Please
A deluxe system demonstration album curated by Marantz and Vinyl Me Please, released to promote the Marantz Model 30 integrated amp and SACD 30n SACD player. The SACD is not hybrid and will only play on an SACD capable player.
The album is split into 2 SACD volumes. Volume 1 "Listen Like A Sound Master" is a selection of tracks curated by Marantz Sound Master Yoshinori Ogata. Volume 2 "Listen Like A Producer" is a selection of tracks curated by Cameron Schaefer of Vinyl Me Please & Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors.
Because the tracks were taken from the original masters, volume levels were not adjusted between tracks.
There is no SACD logo to indicate this is a SACD release. It is completely absent from the discs, the booklet and the cover. The only mention of the SACD format is the SACD Authoring credit given to Gus Skinas in the booklet.
In the booklet, the notes for track 8 of Disc 1 are incorrect in the SACD edition. Using the LP edition Discog entry's images as a reference, I transcribed the following for track 8 of Disc 1:
"No Name Horses is a big band led by Makoto Ozone, one of Japan's leading jazz pianists, and its members are all top-notch. This track features Ryunosuke Yamagishi, a young rock guitarist, which is rare for a big band. It is very lively and almost rock. Either way it is fun to listen to, and I would love to see them perform at a concert."
