The four separate albums in this slipcase set were first issued in die-cut gatefold jackets. The individual releases were shortly thereafter repressed with non-die-cut gatefold jackets, then eventually in non-die-cut/non-gatefold standard jackets. A later edition of this four LP set (with the same catalog number) was issued in a standard (non slipcase) box, and included only the discs in branded Reprise company sleeves sans jackets.

The title of the set appears in various configurations on the front, back and spine. The front states both "Musical Repertory Theater" (preceded by 'Reprise' in its stylized logo font, which may be assumed intended to be included in the phrasing, despite separate font), and also in bold text "REPRISE REPERTORY THEATER" (sans 'Musical'). The spine refers to "MUSICAL REPERTORY THEATER', and as with the first front cover variation, is preceded by 'Reprise' in its stylized logo font,which may also be assumed to have been intended as part of the title.
