Owlripper Compilation number 10 is a 10 track 97 minute collection of experimental, drone, abstract, dark ambient, contemporary classical and noise sounds, to celebrate (on day of release) the 40th anniversary of the film Koyaanisqatsi, and the Philip Glass soundtrack that shapes it.

Thank you to all who give it a quick look and even moreso a listen, and if you don't know the film, please, just watch it!

Seeing this film in the early 80s as a 6 year old was definitely a pivotal moment in my life, that shaped how I perceived film, music, the combination of the two and the world around me.

"Koyaanisqatsi: (from the Hopi language, meaning Life Out of Balance), is a 1982 American experimental non-narrative film produced and directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed sounds to this collection, celebrating this life-changing, boundary pushing, "culturally, aesthetically, historically significant" work of art genius.

"The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music. Reggio explained the lack of dialogue by stating "it's not for lack of love of the language that these films have no words. It's because, from my point of view, our language is in a state of vast humiliation. It no longer describes the world in which we live."

"If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster."
"Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky."
"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans."
