Blue and Yellow - Help For Ukraine by Various

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 2022-03-04

Label: Binaural Space

This is one half of our fundraising compilation to support Ukraine; please find the other half here: binaural-space.bandcamp.com/album/yellow-and-blue

The price has been set at the very minimum but each purchase = donation so we wholeheartedly recommend purchasing with double digits. For each of the two almost 90 minutes long albums containing 26 and 22 great tracks, respectively. The rule of thumb is: "Imagine yourself being in the biggest trouble of your life where money could help. How much would you like good people to give to you?"

...

On February 24th, 2022, Russia invaded the independent and sovereign state of Ukraine. The very day we published an appeal for a fundraising compilation to help the Ukrainians through an organization called People In Need. This is (a half of) the resulting comp.

The appeal was a spur of the moment thing. Living only 6 hours away from the war (by car) makes one think about how to help. The experts know: By providing Ukraine with money through verified organizations.

"People In Need" has an impressive track record, they've been providing humanitarian aid in Ukraine since 2014 and they made a special account last Thursday, called SOS Ukraine. That's where we'll send 100% of the proceeds. We're releasing both the albums today, on Bandcamp Friday, so that only PayPal takes its portion.

When we tweeted about our intention, we hoped for five, maybe even ten musicians to join the project. The enormous positive feedback astounded us: The original tweet as well as several related ones by friends and fans, musicians and labels, got massively shared. The cause has united the community like never before. Although the deadline was tight – because Ukraine needs the money ASAP – we received as many as 78 (!) submissions. In just four days between the announcement and the deadline on February 28. Seventy eight wonderful musicians sent their track – sometimes even more than one so we had well over 80 tracks to choose from.

Two amazing mastering engineers, Liam aka ByteMapper and Michael Southard aka Time Rival offered their services for free – and they both provided their own tracks for the compilation. I can't thank both Liam and Michael enough for their fantastic work on the selected tracks; without these two magicians this compilation wouldn't have been possible. Thank you very, very much guys, I'm grateful that you took perfect care of all the diverse recordings.

The same applies to all the participating musicians – the ones featured on this volume, the ones on the other one, and the ones on the potential Volume 3 next month. There's not enough space here to name all the 78 artists but please let me thank you all SO MUCH for trusting us with your wonderful music and for waiving all rewards to the benefit of SOS Ukraine – you are true heroes of the scene and the united synthfam loves you.

Last but not least, to all the fans who keep spreading the news and who have promised to support this comp when it gets released: Thank you kindly for making this insane week-long sprint an unforgettable and deeply rewarding experience, one that reinforces one's faith in humanity.

If the very you, reading these words now, decide to help the Ukrainians through our collective donation, our most sincere thanks go to you. Thank you for caring for people who, for many of you, live on the opposite side of the planet, but who are innocent and don't deserve to be forced to fight in an unprovoked, reasonless and uneven David vs Goliath war.

Thank you all for being the good guys – because the real good guys don't passively observe evil, allowing it to happen and to go on.
