Track 1 was composed for the 1957 film "Die Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Felix Krull".
Track 2 was composed for the 1959 film "Buddenbrooks".
Tracks 3 to 7 were compsed for the 1964 film "Tonio Krüger". Track 7 however ended up in the soundtrack of the 1977 film "Unordnung und frühes Leid".
Tracks 8 to 10 were composed in 1978 for the 1979 TV mini-series "Buddenbrooks".
Tracks 11 to 15 were composed in 1981 for the 1982 film "Der Zauberberg" (and its extended 1984 TV-Version).
Tracks 16 to 20 were composed for the 1982 film "Doktor Faustus".
Track 21 was composed in 1993 for 1994 film "Mario und der Zauberer".
