Album Info
Release Date: 1988Label: Waterloo Sunset Records
All the tracks on this LP (with the exception of FOUR BY FOUR) are classic themes from cult movies and TV shows of the 60s. This album is unique, as it combines the tunes of a great era with the young exciting up and coming talents of today. ELEANOR RIGBY has had some classic singles and LPs of her own out, and looks set to become the next big star of the 80s - check out her original stuff to see what I mean.A BEATBOY's contribution is from a French 60's TV show, because this act is from Belgium.
THE EDITORS are Avril Eglington and Russel Brennan, who are, in fact, editors of 60s influence paper, "THE BRITANNIA WEEKLY". They also feature on other tracks. Russell as one half of MINISTRY OF DEFIANCE and Avril as part of Eleanor Rigby's backing band - THE GRAVE - who contribute a few tracks of their own.
Also we have two new and exciting acts - STUDIO 68 and KITCH. Look out for them in the near future.
The there is the REACTION;s contribution - FOUR BY FOUR. Although this is an original, it sounds just like a classic 60s theme, so we decided to use it.
If you enjoy this LP. watch out for VOLUME 2 - out later this year.
Sit down, relax and take a trip with us on a memory-laden journey through the best 'cult' films and television series from the decade known throughout the world as the swinging sixties. And swing they certainly did!
Some of the bands re-creating the unique atmosphere may be a little new to your goodselves, but believe me, when you hear their contributions, you'll want to know more about them.
There's not many who'd even contemplate the making of such an album, let alone go out and actually do it. But this has been on the cards for two years and now listen to "Themes From The 60s'.
