Various artists compilation. The Lord Melody tracks, sans Court House Scandals were also released on an EP which was issued to promote the compilation. The liner notes imply that these recordings may date back to 1953 or 1954 rather than the 1957 release date. Melody had recorded earlier versions of them possibly leading to the confusion.

The Whistler would later be rerecorded as Blackbird for Melody's album Lord Melody 1962/More Calypsoes By Lord Melody.

As usual with Balisier Records, recorded in Trinidad but manufactured in England. These pressings were also exported to the US and Caribbean.
