Collection of the voices of women from the Middle East during the first half of the 20th century. Side A of the album includes performances by Christian and Jewish immigrants from Anatolia, Istanbul, and Roumelia. Side B includes more demure and artful performances by some of the greatest Turkish stars of the first generation of Muslim women to sing on records.

Actually Canary #14, although rear cover incorrectly states Canary #13.
Track A3 is subtitled with track A4's subtitle on sleeve.
Labels on the record are reversed (i.e., Side A should be Canaries, and Side B Nightingales, as on the rear cover and in the booklet.)
