You wonder why End Records (or whoever) doesn't put Alan Freed's various artists compilations on CD; they contain some fine tracks, the hits of the day, a virtual history of early rock. This is seemingly the first in a series of such star-studded collections. Not a skimpy LP, 15 tracks, winners all, including the Rivileers' "For Sentimental Reasons," the Cadets' "Stranded in the Jungle," the Flamingos' "Lovers Never Say Goodbye," the Chantels' "He's Gone," and monsters from rock icons Little Richard and Chuck Berry.
