Audio Education, Inc. presents Recorded Songs from The American Singer - Book 5
This album was prepared in conjunction with the American Book Company and Decca Records, Inc.
The records in this album for Book 5 continue the program set up for earlier grades. They have been made with a sevenfold purpose in mind:
1. to enable the children to learn many of the songs with accuracy and fidelity to the notation;
2. to serve as models in respect to interpretation, tempo, use of the voice, and balance of parts;
3. to furnish an occasional accompaniment to songs ordinarily presented without use of piano or other instruments;
4. to provide orchestral color and variety;
5. to introduce two-part singing with less difficulty than is usually encountered;
6. to furnish instrumental music for American folk dances;
7. to add to the pleasure of listening to music.
To attain these purposes, 61 songs from Book 5 have been recorded for this album. They are grouped in the following classifications:
1. Music of master composers
2. Seasonal songs
3. Two-part songs
4. Songs of the Old World
5. Songs of the other Americas
6. American spirituals, ballads, and dances.
