Line ups for Original Memphis Melody Boys and Midway Garden Orchestra (or Midway Dance Orchestra) seem to be mixed up when compared with the info provided by the jazz reference website Red Hot Jazz. Check it out yourselves if your interested ---> http://www.redhotjazz.com/ommb.html *** http://www.redhotjazz.com/midwaygarden.html
I was unable to find anything about New Orleans Jazz Band (there is one on the RHJ site, but it's a few years older with a completely different line-up and different song) whatsoever.
However, I decided to stick with info from the record sleeve. If there's any early jazz expert who could set this mess straight, would he/she please do so?
My copy has a regular cover, not a gatefold. The text ends mid-sentence. I have the same versions of L. Armstrong with The Red Onion Jazz Babies and King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band LPs. Compared to other LPs on Classic Jazz Masters I got, there are slight differences in the layout of the back of the sleeve. They mention the same design company (Studio Wondergem g. v. n. Baarn, Holland). They all have five figure catalog numbers starting with 220. All of them have "Made in West-Germany" written on the back of the sleeve and on the labels. The labels are red on white instead of brown on white and lack year of release. Does anybody know what kind of version this is??
