Midnight Oil are an Australian icon. The band has been one of Australia’s premier acts for more than 25 years – selling more than 2 million albums in Australia, more than 11 million world wide and consistently proving themselves to be one of the finest live acts the country has EVER produced. More recently, they had two songs, "Beds Are Burning" & "Power & The Passion", voted into the APRA Top 30 Australian Songs Of All Time.

The OILS have rocked and inspired a generation – and most importantly they have kept true to their roots, retaining their credibility and character when so many others have fallen by the wayside or become mere parodies of themselves. Their achievement in becoming a star billing act on the world circuit whilst churning out such political statements can also not be underestimated. By the time an Australian government do get around to saying “Sorry” and bringing together black & white in this country, the Oils will have been years ahead of their time – again

A list of the band's achievements and words of adulation could go forever. All that remains to be said is that an all Australian tribute to arguably the most important, not best nor highest selling local act of the last 25 years is long overdue. A chance for THAT generation to dip their lids to the OILS.
